What is Ptosis Correction?
Blepharoptosis is a condition where the upper eyelid droops due to weakness in the levator muscle,
which is responsible for lifting the eyelid.
This can cause the eyelids to cover the pupil, blocking vision and creating a tired, sleepy appearance.
In more severe cases of blepharoptosis, forehead wrinkles may develop as the forehead muscles are
used to try to open the eyes. Since the eyelids cover the pupil and affect vision, ptosis correction is
recommended. Depending on the severity of the condition and degree of eye opening power, either
non-incisional or incisional surgery may be recommended.

What If I Only Get Double Eyelid Surgery Without Ptosis Correction?
When only double eyelid surgery was performed
Performing double eyelid surgery without addressing ptosis tends to result in unsatisfactory outcomes,
as it doesn't change the exposure of the eyes. Moreover, there's a chance that the double eyelids may
unravel easily due to the lack of connection between the skin and the muscle that lifts the eye,

Double eyelid surgery involves creating an artificial crease above the eyes via incision or non-incision, whereas ptosis correction involves improving the ability to open the eyes regardless of the crease.
In the early stages of recovery, it might feel like your eyes aren’t closing properly due
to swelling. However, this usually gets better over time.
This is not possible for two reasons. First, undergoing only the Ptosis procedure
involves making a small incision on the eyelids, which can lead to irregular
adhesions and unwanted wrinkles. Therefore, the best approach is to carefully
manage these adhesions while designing the double eyelids to ensure a natural and
aesthetically pleasing result. Second, most individuals with Ptosis have sagging skin
that partially covers the pupils. By combining the Ptosis correction with double eyelid
surgery, we can retract and tighten the appropriate amount of skin, enhancing eye
exposure.
Although it can be roughly determined by how much of the pupil is exposed, seeking professional advice is the most accurate way to determine if you have ptosis or not.
