What is Fat Grafting?

If facial fat is lost or absorbed as a result of going on an extreme diet or aging, the facial shape may become irregular and appear older.

Fat grafting is a popular method for increasing the overall volume of the face to make the appearance more youthful.

Fat grafting is a surgical procedure in which excess fat is harvested from areas with a higher concentration of fat, such as the thighs or abdomen, and selectively injected into areas that lack volume. Typical areas include the forehead, under the eyes, cheekbones, temples, chin, and nasolabial folds. To create a youthful and attractive facial shape, the procedure targets specific problem areas, such as removing sagging curves, filling areas that lack volume, and lifting the center of the face that may have drooped downwards.

As long as the transplanted fat cells do not disappear or die, the effect is semi-permanent. This is because the fat cells are easily extracted from the body and do not cause foreign body reactions.

Furthermore, since fat tissue is not a hard solid, it can be applied to any part of the body. The procedure is simple and quick, allowing the patient to resume daily activities relatively soon.

It is especially advantageous because the likelihood of side effects is low, as there are fewer chances of rejection compared to other injectable foreign substances.

Will the effect lessen if I go on a diet after fat grafting?

It usually takes about two to three months for the fat to engraft. After fat grafting, it typically takes two to three months for the fat to engraft. Therefore, it is advised to avoid an excessive diet while fat is being engrafted. Losing or maintaining 2-3 kg of weight is not a big deal, but if you are considering on losing weight, it is recommended that you do it before fat grafting.

Can I get fat grafting if I've had fillers or skin injections?

- That is determined by the location of the fat grafting procedure.In the case of skin injections, fat grafting is possible even if you have had some skin injections because it has no effect on fat grafting. However, in the case of filler, it is possible, but it is recommended that you consult with a specialist before the surgery, due to the risk ofinflammation.

Will fat grafting make my face look big or saggy?

- If you try to improve skin sagging with fat grafting alone, the amount needed will be excessive, which it will eventually deviate from the desired location, deepening the wrinkles.
- When fat is transplanted to the appropriate area in an appropriate amount within a safe range, it creates a three-dimensional effect on the face and makes the face appear smaller.

Can I get fat grafting if I have thin skin?

Yes, fat grafting is possible regardless of skin thickness.

Will applying cold or warm packs after fat grafting help reduce swelling?

It is not recommended to apply cold or warm packs after surgery because the pressure and the temperature can interfere with the formation of fat cells and may cause deformation. If the surgical site is extremely hot or uncomfortable, it is recommended to use an ice pack for a short period of time to reduce the heat sensation.
